Part Two:What is Acrylic Acid Emulsion? 1.Emulsion Polymerization Reaction:It is one kind of polymerization reaction.Under the action of emulsifiers,initiator,and mechanical agitation,it uses water as solvent,and disperse monomers in water into an emulsion. 2.acrylic Emulsion is made through Emulsion Polymerization Reaction with Soft Monomer (for example,butyl acrylic (BA), isooctyl acrylic (2-EHA) ),Hard Monomer(for example,methyl methacrylic (MMA)) and functional monomers (for example,acrylic acid (AA)).
Part Three:Applications of acrylic Emulsion The acrylic emulsion PSA has a wide application.Usually it is called Adhesive tape or Scotch tape,and is applied on paper (such as Kraft paper tape),oriented polypropylene (OPP tape),polyethylene and other plastics (such as PVC tape), fabrics (such as non-woven),and metal foil,etc. 1.It could be used to make OPP/BOPP adhesive tape,kraft paper tape, double sided tape, medical tape and other trademarks,etc. 2.It has a high cohesion,180º peel strength,and excellent compatibility with various types of color masterbatch . 3.environmentally friendly products,water-based,non-toxic,non-polluting,non-flammable, non-explosive.
Part Four:Raw Materials for Making acrylic Emulsion In short,the raw materials are monomer, emulsifier, initiator, other additives, and water etc.
1.Monomer:
1)It is the most important component for making acrylic acid emulsion PSA.The type and dosage of monomer determines the emulsion polymer's physical property,chemical property,adhesion property and construction property. 2)Usually,we use (meth) acrylic acid and (meth) acrylic acid alkyl (C1 ~ C8) esters. It may also be divided into: (1)Soft Monomer:Its glass transition temperature (Tg) is low and could increase adhesive film elasticity and flexibility. (2)Hard Monomer:It owns higher glass transition temperature (Tg) and polarity,and could increase emulsion polymer's hardness,strength,oil resistance,solvent resistance,scratch resistance and adhesion properties. (3)Function Monomer:It has a functional group to impart some special properties on emulsion polymer.
2.Emulsifier:
It plays a role on emulsifying,dispersing and compatibilization.It is connected with the stability of emulsion polymerization process and final product. According to different hydrophilic groups in emulsifier molecules,it can be divided to 4 kinds: (1) Anionic Emulsifiers: sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS),sodium dodecylbenzene sulfate(SDBS). (2) Cationic emulsifier: RN (CH3) 3Cl- (3) Non-ionic emulsifiers: OP class, NP class, Span and Tween class category (4) Amphoteric emulsifiers: RNHCH2CH2COOH
3.Initiator:
It directly affect the product yield and quality and affect the polymerization rate,particle size and molecular weight.There are two kinds of initiators: (1)Thermal Decomposition Type:ammonium persulfate,potassium persulfate,sodium persulfate. (2)Oxidation-reduction Reaction Type:NaHSO3
Introductions: 1.Premix about 70% raw materials in the stainless steel tank; 2.Mix about 30% raw materials in the electricity heating reactor; 3.Add raw materials into 3000L stainless steel reactor from the 2500L tank; 4. Put additives into the 3000L stainless steel reactor; 5. Discharging.
